James Iha
Let It Come Down

'Pumpkins' axeman James Iha appears out from the shadows to deliver a solo album that just might surprise everyone who believed he was just a sideshow in Mr Corgans World Of Rage & Apathy

I like the Smashing Pumpkins.  They rock.  And so, when I heard that James was bringing out a solo album, I grabbed my air gutair in hand and got ready to kick the proverbial ass.  I pressed play on the CD player and then suddenly realised I had put on the wrong CD.  It was only when I opened the player that gravity of the situation sunk in.  This was the James Iha CD.  I pressed play again and set my air gutair down.  Today is the bleakest day that I've ever known.  It seems that Jaims has taken 'Disarm' too seriously and gone all hippy on us.

Mind you, my initial disapointment was soon forgotten.  This was actually quite good, better than good in fact.  'Let It Come Down' is the type of album you can see yourslft mellowing out to in the park late on a summers evening.

Stand out tracks for me are 'Sound Of Love', 'Lover, Lover' and 'No One's Gonna Hurt You'.  There is no really weak track on the CD and it's only downfall is that, it does sometimes sound a little samey.

The Moral of the story is, if you want to thrash loudly then, by all means ignore this CD.  If however, you just want to chill, hit the repeat button, skin up and float up to heaven.
